Đukanović on Protests: “We Are Here, and This Affects Us…” (Photo)

The Montenegrin president and head of the Democratic Party of Socialists, who did not attend but endorsed the protest in Podgorica, shared an image expressing his vision for Montenegro.
“We exist, and we are who we are. And it is Montenegro. Free, civil, multiethnic, independent. And it will remain Montenegro. Whenever it is needed,” Djukanović tweeted.

The protest in Podgorica was organized under the motto “We exist,” with the formal organizers being a forum named Luča, while the citizens’ movement called on representatives from the DPS, SDP, SD, and LP.
Demands from the protesters included the repeal of the recent law on the President passed in the Assembly, reaching an agreement on the selection of judges for the Constitutional Court, and calling for extraordinary parliamentary elections.
Previously, Djukanović had declined to sign the new Law on the President and returned it to the Assembly for reconsideration.
