A Contemporary Playground as a Gift

Following the park at Pristan, children in Ulcinj have recently been granted another safe and functional area for play at the Cultural Center. This new playground features a rubber surface and a variety of amenities. The total cost of the project was €53,480, VAT included, and it was executed by the Podgorica-based company “Deco Group”.
The grand opening of the playground was scheduled for Saturday, April 5th, but it was postponed due to a significant civic protest at Pristan.
The playground in the Pristan park was opened at the beginning of March.
Secretary for Investments Minir Karamanaga previously stated that the Municipality aims to establish two more playgrounds behind the Igman buildings as part of a broader initiative to enhance that area with parking spaces and develop the plateau above Holegro.
The estimated cost for the development of the area behind the Igman buildings is around €100,000, and the Municipality has already signed a contract for the execution of the works.
The Municipality renovated the playgrounds at Pristan and the Cultural Center in late 2023, but both were vandalized and completely destroyed.
An informal association of parents in Ulcinj has previously organized protests twice due to the lack of playgrounds in the city. They called for safe play areas and penalties for the vandals responsible for the destruction of two existing playgrounds near the Cultural Center and in the park on Mala Plaza.
