Prime Minister Milojko Spajić conveyed his anticipation of support from certain opposition members in parliament regarding the agreements between Montenegro and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

“We have initiated discussions with parliamentary groups. From the initial feedback, it appears we may receive backing from sections of the opposition. It’s crucial for projects like this to gain support from as many MPs as possible, as we need consensus rather than political conflict,” Spajić remarked, responding to press inquiries at Villa Gorica following a meeting with Kaja Kalas, the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.

Spajić emphasized that he is looking forward to significant support from portions of the opposition alongside the ruling coalition.

He noted that the UAE has established similar agreements with EU member states, underscoring the intensity of their cooperation.

Moreover, Spajić announced that more interstate agreements are in the works to be finalized by the end of next year.

“In addition to the Emirates, which is currently being addressed, we are preparing important intergovernmental agreements with three EU member nations. This will facilitate substantial investments, infrastructure development, and various other initiatives that might not have received adequate attention until now,” Spajić added.

Regarding Montenegro’s potential collaboration with the UAE, Kalas expressed that the EU is keen on supporting Montenegro’s economic growth and the diversification of its economic activities.

“It’s essential that all laws and commitments made by Montenegro are upheld, ensuring European companies enjoy equal rights concerning investments in the country,” concluded Kalas.
