EBRD Invested €104 Million in Montenegro Last Year

Last year, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) invested €104 million in Montenegro through nine notable projects aimed at enhancing the country’s economic and sustainable development, as announced by this international financial institution.

The EBRD reported that €92 million, representing a record 89 percent of total investments, was allocated to green projects, which promote energy efficiency, renewable energy, and decarbonization initiatives across various sectors.

“Additionally, seven out of the nine projects emphasized gender inclusion. These investments demonstrate the bank’s commitment to guiding Montenegro towards a more sustainable, resilient, and inclusive economy,” stated the EBRD.

Remon Zakaria, the EBRD Director for Montenegro, remarked that they are facilitating Montenegro’s green transition, modernizing infrastructure, and broadening access to funding for businesses and individuals, thereby reinforcing their dedication to sustainable economic growth.

“These accomplishments highlight the strong partnerships we have forged with local stakeholders, donors, and the private sector. I look forward to this year with optimism, convinced of our ability to sustain this momentum, achieve even greater outcomes, and assist Montenegro in realizing its full potential,” Zakaria added.

The EBRD has been instrumental in fostering the economic and sustainable advancement of Montenegro through various pivotal projects.
