Buducnost Volley Advances to EPCG Super League Final
The Buducnost Volley team has successfully reached the finals of the EPCG Super League after a thrilling match held at the Sports Hall “Topolica” in Bar. In a tense third game of the semi-final series, they overcame the home team, Luka Bar, with a final score of 3:2 (25:27, 25:21, 23:25, 25:14, 15:10), marking a significant milestone in the club’s history as they advance to their first-ever final.
Since the merger of the two Buducnost teams, the Podgorica squad claimed their first shot at the Montenegrin championship title in 2021. Their previous final appearance was during the 2011/12 season when they triumphed over Luka Bar in the cup.
The match at SC “Topolica” was a thrilling spectacle filled with excitement, unexpected twists, and high-level volleyball, showcasing the formidable fighting spirit and skills of both teams. The home team secured the first set, turning around a 10:6 and 19:14 deficit to lead 27:25. However, the Podgorica side seized the second set with a strong 20:15 advantage, ultimately leveling the game at 25:21.
The third set saw Luka Bar gain the upper hand with a remarkable start, leading 8:1. Although Buducnost narrowed the gap to 21:23, the home team clinched the set with two critical points, finishing at 25:23. In the fourth set, Buducnost rallied, overcoming an early 6:4 deficit to dominate and win 25:14, pushing the match into a decisive fifth set.
During the tie-breaker, the “Sirens” initially led 3:1, but Luka Bogojević’s team displayed resilience, evening the score at 4:4 before forging ahead for a 10:7 lead and securing the match with a 15:10 final score.
Buducnost’s captain, Mileva Magdelinic, shone with an impressive 21 points, supported by teammates Sara Belojević, Milena Ćetković, and Kristina Božović, each contributing 15 points. On the opposing team, Teodora Čavić stood out with 29 points, while Aieska Ferreira added 14.
Buducnost Volley will face the Herceg Novi team in the grand final of the EPCG Super League, after they successfully eliminated their city rivals, the Albatros team, in a two-match series.
