A Decline in Focus Led to Our Loss

The Primorje water polo team is on the cusp of claiming the Montenegrin championship, currently leading the series 2:0. However, there’s no sense of euphoria following their significant victory over Jadran after a tough five-game series.

The Kotor team triumphed with a score of 15:13, thanks in large part to goalkeeper Aleksandro Kralj, who not only equalized with just 10 seconds remaining but also saved two penalty shots from the opposition.

“It’s an incredible feeling. In moments when our team was struggling, we stayed focused on our plans. Now, we can rightfully hope and dream that the title will return to Kotor,” stated coach Vjekoslav Pasković.

Kralj was the standout performer, but young talent Srđan Janović also shined, contributing four goals (three during regulation).

“Everyone played a part and made a valuable contribution. We believed until the very end—Kralj’s decisive shot demonstrated his exceptional confidence, especially in the penalty shootout. Our team chemistry is strong, with both young and experienced players coming together. That’s what matters,” Pasković remarked.

Jadran’s coach Petar Radanović expressed his disappointment:

“It’s part of the game. I believe our drop in concentration during the third quarter cost us, losing our connection and rhythm. We conceded two easily avoidable goals, including the one from Kralj caused by our turnover at the end,” Radanović explained.

“We need to move forward; I hope we can recover and deliver a better performance in Herceg Novi,” he added.

The third game is scheduled for Saturday at Škver, where Primorac aims to secure its first title since 2008.
