Student Snežana Džogović expressed her appreciation to the courageous individuals who stood in solidarity with students in pursuit of their goals.

“I am glad to see so many courageous individuals gathered here, especially considering the immense pressure that exists. It feels like it is easier to promote in Belgrade or any other city in Serbia. This location feels particularly occupied by both foreign and local influences. Therefore, I am pleased that there are people present here, and it is essential to convey that we truly support the students in Belgrade. Given our current situation, we must first advocate for them,” said Snežana Džogović.

To date, over 360 professors and students from Kosovo have endorsed a petition demanding the fulfillment of the requests raised by students during the blockades throughout Serbia.

After Đorđević called for citizen participation in the “15 minutes of silence” initiative, the Student Parliament of the University of Pristina, situated in North Mitrovica, released a statement distancing itself from today’s protest. They sent a message to colleagues participating in the blockades at faculties across Serbia, titled “Those who supported you are harming us; distance yourself from Kurti and those who wish to divide Serbia.”

Many students have since distanced themselves from this declaration, asserting that it did not reflect the student body.

“I believe we all possess the right to our individual opinions. No one consulted students about the statement or whether they agreed with it, which is the core issue. The matter isn’t about whether we support the protests. Everyone has the right to make that decision based on their conscience. However, no one can strip others of their right to express their opinions and positions that purportedly speak for all students, which is not representative of everyone’s views,” stated Jovan Zafirović, a student at the Faculty of Philosophy.

“That statement did not originate from students, and it’s hazardous to equate student protests and the 15 minutes of silence with Albin Kurti or any form of oppression,” said fellow student Dimitrije Rakočević.

Student Snežana Džogović expressed her gratitude, as she said, to brave people for their solidarity with the students in achieving their demands.

“I’m glad that so many brave people gathered, even though it seems to me that the greatest pressure is here, that it seems to me that it is easier to make a statement in Belgrade or any city in Serbia than here. This city is somehow the most occupied, both by foreign people and by locals. That’s why I’m glad that there were people here and the message needs to be conveyed that people from here really support students in Belgrade. Precisely because the situation here is the way it is, we need to stand up first and fight for them,” said Snežana Džogović.

So far, over 360 professors and students from Kosovo have supported a petition calling for the fulfillment of the demands of students who raised their voices during the blockades across Serbia.
