At the Senior European Championships in Podgorica, Montenegrin judo will be represented by a contingent of ten judokas competing in individual categories, as announced by the Judo Federation.

The event is set to take place from April 23 to April 27.

Representing Montenegrin judo are Petar Radović and Jusuf Nurković (under 66 kg), Jahja Nurković (under 73 kg), Nikola and Nebojša Gardašević (under 81 kg), Novo Raičević (under 90 kg), Anto Dubreta and Slobodan Vukić (over 100 kg), along with Jovana Peković (under 78 kg) and Jovana Mrvaljević (over 78 kg).

In the mixed team event, Tamara Gardašević and Aiša Nurković (under 57 kg), and Nataša Jeftić (under 70 kg) will also compete.

Coach Ilija Vukotić remarked on the unpredictability of the competition, noting that it will feature numerous medalists from prominent international events, including world championships and the Olympics, showcasing their talents to the audience in Podgorica.

"Montenegro hasn’t claimed a medal at the European Championships in nearly 40 years; merely qualifying is an achievement in itself. Those placing undue pressure on our athletes should consider this,” Vukotić told the MINA agency.

He underlined the importance of support for Montenegrin judokas, urging fans to fill the Morača Hall and rally behind the team.

"We trust our athletes will give their utmost and even more. The Federation has devoted significant resources to their training, ensuring all preparations are in place for a successful event. I expect the Morača Hall to be at full capacity, allowing enthusiasts of judo to relish the experience," Vukotić stated.

This event will mark the Montenegrin team's first appearance in front of a home audience during the mixed team competition.

The championship in Podgorica is anticipated to gather over 450 judokas from 48 different European nations.
