Buducnost Volley Advances to the EPCG Super League Final

The Buducnost Volley team has successfully made it to the EPCG Super League finals following a thrilling encounter at the Sports Hall “Topolica” in Bar. In the crucial third match of the semi-final series, they triumphed over the local team Luka Bar with a score of 3:2 (25:27, 25:21, 23:25, 25:14, 15:10), marking a significant milestone in the club’s history by advancing to their first final.

Since merging with another Buducnost team, the Podgorica squad claimed their first chance at the Montenegrin championship title in 2021. Prior to this, Buducnost only reached the finals once during the 2011/12 season, where they secured the cup by defeating Luka Bar.

The showdown in SC “Topolica” was filled with drama, unexpected turns, and elite-level volleyball, showcasing the remarkable fighting spirit and skill of both teams. The home side clinched the first set, overcoming Buducnost’s early leads of 10:6 and 19:14 to finish strong at 27:25. However, in the second set, the Podgorica team seized control, establishing a lead of 20:15 and confidently leveling the sets at 25:21.

The third set saw Luka Bar take the early advantage with a score of 8:1. Although Buducnost fought back to 21:23, the home team secured the set with two critical points, ending it at 25:23. The fourth set was dominated by Buducnost; notwithstanding Luka Bar’s initial lead of 6:4, Buducnost quickly reversed the momentum to win decisively at 25:14, setting the stage for the decisive fifth set.

In the tie-break, the “Sirens” started strong, leading 3:1, but Luka Bogojević’s squad showed resilience, leveling the score at 4:4 before surging ahead to a 10:7 lead, ultimately finishing the match with a final score of 15:10.

Buducnost captain Mileva Magdelinic delivered an outstanding performance, scoring 21 points, while teammates Sara Belojević, Milena Ćetković, and Kristina Božović contributed with 15 points each. From the Luka Bar roster, Teodora Čavić stood out with an impressive 29 points, and Aieska Ferreira added 14 points.

Buducnost Volley is set to face the Herceg Novi team in the grand final of the EPCG Super League, having eliminated their city rival, the Albatros team, in two matches.
