“Operation Paris: Sharks Begin Their Mission in the Pool”
Today, the Montenegrin water polo team commenced their training for the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris, scheduled from July 26 to August 11.
Head coach Vladimir Gojković has initiated the first phase of preparations, where athletes from local clubs, along with those who have recently concluded their club seasons abroad, will participate in training sessions.
There’s ample time ahead—nearly two months—which allows for a combined approach to training, apart from the final intensive phase.
“As other players finish their commitments at their clubs, they will join the team. We aim to provide them with as much rest as possible, considering how exhausting the season has been,” Gojković noted.
The “Sharks” are set to be in Los Angeles starting June 5, where they will train alongside the United States national team.
“I’m confident we will have our full squad by then, with the exception of Miroslav Perković, who will be competing in the Euroleague Final Four with Novi Beograd during that time,” Gojković added.
The Montenegrin water polo squad will compete in Group A at the Olympic tournament in Paris, where they will vie for a quarter-final spot against formidable teams such as Italy, Croatia, Romania, Greece, and the United States.
Meanwhile, Group B features Spain, Hungary, Serbia, Australia, Japan, and France. The water polo competition at the Olympics in Paris runs from July 28 to August 11.
