The President of the Democratic People’s Party and a key figure in the democratic front, Milan Knežević, refuted all rumors regarding the supposed division of departments and the names of ministers in Montenegro’s upcoming 44th Government.

Knežević stated during an interview with Radio Montenegro that any assumptions about the division of departments and prospective governmental appointments are unfounded. He emphasized the need for the current president, Milo Djukanović, to sign the revised law regarding the presidency.

“In the meantime, I believe that the future parliamentary majority, which will vote on the government, aligns with our agreement made in September. It is essential for Miodrag Lekić to form the government,” Knežević remarked.

He added that the process and order of tasks are well understood at this stage.

When questioned about when Miodrag Lekić might be appointed as Prime Minister or when the assembly of the new government might commence, Knežević responded:

“This will specifically be discussed at the next meeting of the Leaders of the Parliamentary majority. If we validate the September agreements, as I believe we will, then we can anticipate progress in the near future, conforming to the proposed timelines.”

Knežević pointed out that there are no longer any legal hindrances to establishing a new government; it merely awaits Jushanović’s signature on the approved amendments.

He asserted that functioning within judicial parameters should facilitate the state in completing its institutional roles effectively.

“I believe it would be beneficial for the DPS to withdraw complaints regarding the election process from October 23, allowing for the establishment of local self-governances, particularly in Podgorica and Pljevlja,” Knežević noted during the RTCG interview.

He emphasized the necessity of dialogue at this juncture and called on Djukanović and the DPS to demonstrate accountability in overcoming the ongoing crisis.
