No More Delay: It’s Time to Adopt the Budget

Prime Minister Milojko Spajić has urged Parliament to promptly pass the Budget, pointing out that there are those who seek to impede pensions, investments, and Montenegro’s journey towards EU membership—something he firmly argues must no longer be tolerated.

In a statement on the social media platform “X,” the Prime Minister expressed: “I urge Parliament to approve the Budget as early as tomorrow. As for the parliamentarians who relish in acting theatrically and obstructing progress – let’s grant them an undeserved break for a few days.”

Spajić cautioned that with the expiration of Judge Đuranović’s mandate—who, he noted, received a significant severance package—thousands of pensioners could find themselves unable to afford heating and food, stressing that they “can no longer wait for their compassion like a distant illusion.”

The Prime Minister also highlighted that Judge Đuranović did not contest her case in any domestic, constitutional, or European court, while continuing to receive her severance pay. He critiqued the opposition, asserting: “The opposition ‘Soviet Union’ declines to consult the Venice Commission or any other institutions from the EU or the Council of Europe.”

In his post, Spajić further remarked that the Judicial Council maintained the same practices as in prior years, contending that the so-called “violated” procedure necessitates judges to vote on their own mandate termination—a procedure he labeled as “the greatest conflict of interest on the planet.”

In conclusion, the Prime Minister stated that the parliamentary majority has demonstrated considerable patience and has exerted every effort to achieve a compromise. Nonetheless, he reiterated that the obstruction of pensions, investments, and the EU accession process can no longer be accepted.
