The National Parks of Montenegro have reported successful prevention of poaching in the Prokletije National Park.

According to an official statement, “The Prokletije National Park Protection Service, in collaboration with the Plav Border Police, conducted operations against poaching within the park’s protected area. They discovered an individual identified as AT with hunting dogs in the Ropojana Valley, intending to hunt. Another individual reportedly fled in an unknown direction. AT stated that a person named S.Š. had accompanied him earlier that morning to release the hunting dogs and hunt.”

The authorities indicated that legal action will be pursued against the mentioned individuals for breaching nature protection laws and the prohibition of hunting within the National Park, with the case reported to the Police Directorate – Plav Security Department.

Miralem Metjahić, the director of Prokletije NP, urged all visitors and local residents to adhere to the National Park’s regulations and help preserve the natural treasures of Prokletije. “Any activity that threatens flora and fauna will face penalties,” he stated.

He also expressed gratitude toward the Plav Border Police Unit for their swift response and collaboration with the Protection Service.
