The President of Republika Srpska (RS), Milorad Dodik, has been summoned as a suspect by the BiH Prosecutor’s Office regarding an investigation into the acquisition of a villa located in Dedinje, Belgrade, as confirmed by the State Prosecutor’s Office to the Sarajevo-based portal Kliks.

According to the Istraga portal, Dodik is expected to appear at the BiH Prosecutor’s Office on April 2nd.

In March 2022, Dodik was interrogated concerning the villa purchase, but it has been noted that a formal indictment cannot be made until he is questioned about all the allegations from the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH.

He faces accusations of “money laundering,” “accepting gifts and other benefits,” and abuse of his official position.

Dodik purchased the villa in Dedinje on May 14, 2007, for 750,000 euros.

While he asserted that the funds for the villa came from a loan at the Bijeljina-based “Pavlović Bank,” it was discovered that he took out the loan from that bank a year later, on June 27, 2008.

He submitted the loan application with the seal of the RS Government, which he was leading at the time.

The villa in Dedinje was previously rented by the Israeli Embassy, but they vacated the property in early January 2018.

Constructed in 2005, the villa was appraised by an expert at a value of one million and 260 thousand euros.
