“It Would Be a Privilege to Lead the Team in the ‘Morača’ Atmosphere”

After Italy’s exit from the World Cup play-offs, Vlado Šola has stepped down, and the Montenegrin handball team may welcome a new Croatian coach soon.

The potential candidate is Slavko Goluža, a celebrated figure in handball who has recently taken the reins at Al-Kadsia in Kuwait.

Montenegrin player Vasilije Kaluđerović and Vladan Lipovina, who distanced himself from the national squad during Zoran Roganović’s coaching tenure and declined to return when Šola was appointed, are both part of Al-Kadsia’s roster. Additionally, Baranin’s goalkeeper coach, Vlatko Đonović, also holds a position there.

Today, “Dan” reported that Goluža is being considered to lead our national team.

“It would be a privilege to coach the team in the incredible atmosphere of Morača. That’s all I can say for now,” remarked the 52-year-old expert in an interview with Portal RTCG.

Goluža stands as one of Croatia’s most distinguished handball players. He clinched the European championship with Zagreb in 1992 and 1993, and with the national team, he boasts two Olympic gold medals and a world championship title.

From 2006 to 2010, he served as an assistant to Lina Červar on the Croatian national team, later taking over as head coach and securing three bronze medals at the European and World Championships, along with the Olympic Games.
