Consensus Achieved on New Draft Legislation for the Employment of Individuals with Disabilities
Representatives from the Government, including the Prime Minister’s Office, the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Dialogue, the Ministry of Finance, and the Employment Agency of Montenegro, met with representatives from organizations for persons with disabilities and the Montenegrin Employers Federation today to agree on starting a new process for drafting the Law on Professional Rehabilitation and Employment for Persons with Disabilities.
During the meeting, it was decided that the Ministry of Labour, Employment, and Social Dialogue will issue a public call tomorrow for the nomination of at least three representatives from NGOs recognized as representatives of persons with disabilities. These representatives will participate in the Working Group tasked with preparing the Draft Law.
The agreement includes a timeline stipulating that the Draft Law should be finalized within two months of the Working Group’s formation, although an extension may be granted if necessary.
Furthermore, the Ministry will notify representatives of disability associations tomorrow about the submission deadline for the Rulebook concerning the conditions, criteria, and procedures for exercising the right to subsidies. This Rulebook is expected to be published in the Official Gazette by the end of April.
The meeting emphasized a shared goal: to identify and define optimal legal solutions that will further enhance and regulate the rights and obligations outlined in this law.
