According to Minister of Internal Affairs Danilo Šaranović, the Ministry and the Police Directorate achieved unprecedented success last year in combating all types of crime.
During their discussions in Brussels, Šaranović and Deputy Prime Minister Aleksa Bečić met with European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos and the European Parliament rapporteur for Montenegro, Marijan Šarec.
As stated by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Šaranović noted their collective satisfaction regarding the implementation of the plan across various sectors, particularly in the areas of organized crime, corruption, and fulfilling commitments on the European agenda.
“The Ministry of Interior and the Police Directorate have indeed reported record achievements in the fight against all forms of crime over the past year,” emphasized Šaranović.
He mentioned that these outcomes are pivotal in establishing the security system as the most credible it has ever been.
During the meeting, Šaranović also highlighted the successful advancement of commitments related to the integration process.
“We reached a consensus with our partners that the Ministry of Interior serves as a positive example of how dedication and determination can yield tangible results and accomplish any objective, despite the challenges we face,” added Šaranović.
He reported that the Ministry of Interior met all interim benchmarks last year, achieving 100% compliance with the strategic framework.
Šaranović also indicated that seven laws and accompanying regulations were enacted in the previous year.
“We continue to work resolutely and with courage toward fulfilling the final benchmarks, reinforcing our system, and our current projects, particularly in enhancing border security, demonstrate our commitment to making Montenegro’s borders the new European Union borders in the Balkans in record time,” concluded Šaranović.
