Government Prepares to Invite FBI and FSB for Investigation into Sonic Cannon
Serbian Prime Minister Miloš Vučević announced today that the government is prepared to extend an official invitation to both the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) to conduct an inquiry into the purported use of a sound cannon during the protest in Serbia on Saturday.
“We are ready to issue an official invitation; we have nothing to conceal,” Vučević told the media at the government building.
He reaffirmed his stance that no Serbian governmental body employed a sound cannon at that demonstration.
Vučević dismissed the claims regarding the sound cannon as fabricated, asserting that such a device was not present in the streets of Belgrade. He mentioned being with police officers throughout Saturday, clarifying that no orders were given for the use of batons.
“There was no directive from the police leadership, from superiors in the command chain, from the units on the ground, or from the command section to carry out any action against anyone,” the Prime Minister remarked, expressing appreciation for the police’s “exemplary performance.”
He suggested that these allegations represent “the continuation of the color revolution in Serbia.”
“Despite the large attendance, the event lacked political significance. To compensate for that and, as they say, to conjure something new, they resort to even greater falsehoods,” he stated.
Vučević asserted that the Serbian police have full transparency and anticipates that the prosecution will thoroughly investigate the matter.
“Once it is confirmed that they fabricated these claims, which you will see they did, those who disseminated misinformation will be held accountable. There will be no negotiations on that front,” he emphasized.
Additionally, Vučević critiqued certain doctors “who took part in the protests” for allegedly advising citizens on what injuries to report afterward.
“Everything was orchestrated and fundamentally false. The Serbian police did not resort to batons. I unequivocally stand by that statement, as does the entire nation,” he declared.
He highlighted the large turnout at the rally on Saturday, noting that the crucial aspect was that “none of the anticipated incidents occurred, there were no assaults on institutions,” and the protest remained peaceful.
“It is clear that state authorities acted effectively in a preventative capacity. Particularly, the Novi Sad separatist group, which was planning terrorist activities, was uncovered,” Vučević explained.
He remarked that most of the violence took place on the night between Friday and Saturday, particularly towards the camp in Pionirski Park, as well as against the tractors that served as a form of protection for the attendees, resulting in 186 tractors being completely damaged.
“As a political party (SNS), we will support these individuals and address their losses. We must act swiftly, as the planting season is upon us,” Vučević stated.
He added that some individuals have already been apprehended for this incident, and he anticipates the police will identify all those responsible for property damage and violent acts.
According to him, there were isolated minor confrontations with the police during Saturday’s demonstration.
