On the previous day, in the village of Nedakusi, Bijelo Polje, authorities discovered a hookah, 111 boxes of hookah tobacco, and two ten-kilogram packages of hookah embers in a vehicle operated by a Turkish national, SM (43). The Police Directorate (UP) reported today that these items lacked the necessary documentation and were valued at approximately 1,300 euros.
The authorities have since confiscated the discovered items.
“Border Police Sector officers, alongside members of the Bijelo Polje Security Department, conducted checks aimed at addressing cross-border crime and the smuggling of excise goods. During an inspection of a Turkish citizen, tobacco products without valid documentation were uncovered. The incident occurred around noon on the Prijepolje-Bijelo Polje road in Nedakusi, where border police pulled over a passenger vehicle with Tivat license plates, driven by SM (43), a Turkish citizen residing temporarily in Montenegro. The vehicle inspection revealed hookahs, 111 boxes of hookah tobacco from various brands, and two 10-kilogram packages of hookah embers, all lacking proper documentation, valued at around 1,300 euros,” stated the UP announcement.
Authorities suspect that SM acquired the items in Serbia from an unknown individual, intending to resell them in Montenegro at a higher price.
“A criminal investigation was carried out, and following the directive of the acting prosecutor at the Basic State Prosecutor’s Office in Bijelo Polje, a criminal complaint was lodged against SM on the suspicion of illicit trafficking,” noted the UP statement.
