Real Madrid triumphed over Red Star Belgrade in yet another critical matchup for a spot in the Euroleague playoffs, securing a score of 78:72.

The Kralj team jumped to an early 14:0 advantage and maintained control for most of the game, often leading by double digits. However, Red Star closed the gap with effective defense in the second half, and with just 45 seconds remaining, Miller-McIntyre’s three-pointer reduced the deficit to two points.

Nonetheless, Campazzo remained composed at the free-throw line, allowing Madrid to surpass Red Star in the rankings based on a superior head-to-head record.

Both teams now hold an 18-14 record and are part of a competitive group of five teams with similar standings, ranked between 6th and 10th place.

Efes ranks sixth, Barcelona seventh, Real in eighth, Red Star ninth, and Paris in tenth…

Paris potentially disrupted many expectations with a stunning away victory over Panathinaikos, ending with a score of 101:98.

Earlier, Efes had a challenging match against Maccabi on neutral ground in Riga, narrowly winning 90:88, despite the Israelis having a chance to clinch the game when trailing by just one point.

Fenerbahçe played with more confidence, managing to defeat Baskonia in Istanbul by 82:77. Šarūnas Jasikėvičius’ squad currently holds the top position in the standings, based on a better head-to-head record than Olympiacos.

However, the most notable result of the day came from Berlin.

In a clash of the last-placed teams, Virtus, under the guidance of Montenegrin coach Duško Ivanovic, overwhelmed Alba with a staggering 44-point lead, finishing at 108:64!

This impressive victory comes just two days after Virtus suffered a 36-point defeat to Red Star Belgrade.
