The European People’s Party (EPP) is a strong advocate for the EU’s enlargement policy, stated Ervin Ibrahimović, the leader of the Bosniak Party (BS).

Representatives from the EPP are currently in Montenegro to host the two-day conference titled “EPP Families in the Western Balkans Region” in collaboration with the BS in Podgorica.

According to the BS, EPP President Manfred Weber commenced his visit to Montenegro with a meeting at BS headquarters alongside Ibrahimović.

Ibrahimović, alongside ministers and BS MPs, engaged with Weber to discuss the current political landscape in Montenegro and the Western Balkans while exploring avenues for further collaboration between BS and the EPP.

Those present at the meeting included Ministers Admir Šahmanović (Mining, Oil and Gas), Ernad Suljević (Regional Investment Development and Cooperation with NGOs), and Damir Gutić (Social Welfare, Family Care, and Demography).

Also present at the meeting were Deputy Speaker of Parliament Mirsad Nurković, along with MPs Edina Dešić, Amer Smailović, and Jasmin Ćorović, as well as Izet Ćorović, the Chief of Staff for the President of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“This visit reaffirms BS’s dedication to the Union and its values, underscoring the validity of the policy BS has maintained for 19 years,” the statement read.

Since 2019, BS has been an associate member of the EPP, actively engaging in policymaking through its membership.

Moreover, BS is noted as the sole political group from Montenegro that is part of the EPP.

The two-day conference “EPP Families in the Western Balkans Region” is currently underway in Podgorica, co-organized by the EPP and BS.

“The EPP firmly backs the enlargement policy, making this conference a significant opportunity for us, as part of the EPP family, to reaffirm our collective commitment to enlargement and assess how we can expedite this process in Montenegro and other Western Balkan countries,” Ibrahimović articulated on his X profile.
