Bahçeşehir, along with our Dejan Radonjić and Marko Simonović, was moments away from achieving their greatest success, reaching the Eurocup final, only for a staggering defensive mistake to send the semi-final series with Gran Canaria back to Istanbul.
The Turkish side lost 69:68 in the second leg, even though Simonović contributed four points in the last two seconds, putting them ahead 68:66.
However, during the timeout, Jaka Laković devised a play that proved disastrous for Bahçeşehir – Nicolas Brusino penetrated, Caleb Homsley evaded CJ Massinburg, and scored while drawing a foul.
Afterward, he converted his free throw, securing a significant victory for the team from Las Palmas.
Simonović concluded the game with 10 points and four rebounds, with Furkan Korkmaz being the top scorer for his team at 12 points.
Gran Canaria was led by Brusino, who scored 18 points.
The second semi-final promises to be equally thrilling as Hapoel Tel Aviv triumphed over Valencia (96:91), evening the series at 1:1.
