The IHF Extended an Invitation to Switzerland
The dreams of Montenegrin handball players progressing to the World Championship lasted just about ten days before they were dashed today.
Specifically, the IHF revealed that Switzerland would join the United States of America in receiving a wild card for the tournament.
The “Lions” recently faced elimination in the playoffs for the World Cup, having been outperformed by Italy in both matches. Following this setback, they also lost their coach, as Vlado Šola decided to resign.
The World Cup is scheduled to take place from January 14 to February 2, 2025, across Croatia, Denmark, and Norway.
The following European nations will participate in the WC: Austria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Sweden, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, North Macedonia, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain, and Switzerland;
From Africa, Algeria, Cape Verde, Guinea, Egypt, and Tunisia will compete, while Bahrain, Kuwait, Japan, and Qatar will represent Asia.
From South and Central America, Argentina, Brazil, and Chile are set to play in the World Cup, while the United States of America and Cuba will defend the honor of North America and the Caribbean.
