Democratic Montenegro has officially submitted their electoral list titled “We Know Each Other by Deeds” to the Municipal Election Commission in Herceg Novi, with current Mayor Stevan Katić at the helm.

The list features members from the Open Boka Citizens’ Association along with various non-partisan candidates. “We take pride in noting that over 30 percent of our members are women, and more than 80 percent hold advanced degrees, all eager to contribute their expertise towards the city’s advancement,” Katić stated in the announcement.

The Democrats emphasized that they are willing to collaborate with anyone who adheres to their vision for “continued robust and dynamic city development and key principles,” explicitly excluding any possibility of forming a coalition with the Democratic Party of Socialists.

Katić expressed confidence in achieving “the most convincing result yet” in the upcoming elections on April 13th.

“This confidence stems from our efforts and achievements over the past period, which are evident to the people of Herceg Novi. Wherever you go, you can see the work happening in Herceg Novi. A lot has been accomplished, and there is much more to come in a responsible and familiar manner, as we have always done,” Katić declared.

The electoral list was notably backed by nearly 3,000 signatures from citizens, which is “significantly higher than in the 2017 and 2021 elections.”

“This is why we are all heading together for a new electoral victory,” Katić added.

Additionally, Gojko Đurđević, president of the Open Boka Association, expressed optimism about the outcome, attributing their joint effort to the shared recognition of decentralization as a fundamental aspect of their program.

“A powerful central party based in Podgorica chose to adopt this slogan and the identity of the person who has already led this city. We perceive this as a small, symbolic yet courageous action by this party, which is why we have decided to endorse them,” Đurđević remarked.
