Ivanović and Arshakyan: Enhancing Interparliamentary Collaboration

The Deputy Prime Minister for Foreign and European Affairs Filip Ivanović convened with Vice President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Hakob Arshakyan, with the presence of Arsen Torosyan, Head of the Armenia-Montenegro Friendship Group within the National Assembly of Armenia.

In the course of the meeting, the dialogue centered on enhancing interparliamentary cooperation and elevating political relations, which are vital for improving overall bilateral relations. The officials assessed Montenegro’s journey towards European integration, with Vice President Arshakyan extending congratulations to Montenegro for its accomplishments and noteworthy advancement toward EU membership. Montenegro expressed its readiness to exchange negotiation experiences with its Armenian colleagues, underscoring the significance of institutional reforms and legislative alignment with European standards.

Ivanović highlighted Montenegro’s goal to complete all negotiation chapters by 2026 and to become the 28th member of the EU by 2028.

The officials concurred on the critical importance of further economic cooperation, particularly regarding enhancing air connectivity between Podgorica and Yerevan. Strengthening these ties would greatly improve mobility for both Montenegrin and Armenian tourists and encourage business relations between the two nations.

During his visit to Armenia, Deputy Prime Minister Ivanović also toured the Matenadaran Museum of Ancient Manuscripts and the TUMO Center for Creative Technologies.
