The Public Company for Coastal Zone Management has requested the Special State Prosecutor’s Office (SDT) to investigate the multi-million-dollar bids for the leasing of beaches in Budva, as reported by the state-owned company to “Vijesti”.
“We are currently on the second day of the tender procedure for opening bids for the lease of locations in the municipalities of Bar and Ulcinj. Similar to the previous day, a significant number of bidders have lined up to submit their tender documentation. The processes of yesterday went without issues, leading us to expect a successful and transparent conclusion to this endeavor. We can confidently say that no publicly owned company has ever made such significant progress between two public calls. Following the first day, we anticipate a substantial increase in revenues, affirming the decision to raise initial lease prices,” they remarked in Morsko dobro.
Despite the smooth operation of the tender procedure, they observed that at specific locations within the Budva municipality, exceptionally high bids were submitted, garnering notable media attention.
“Given our suspicions that these bids may not stem from sound business judgments, we urge the Special State Prosecutor’s Office to investigate whether these offers aim to launder money or intentionally undermine the tender process, or if they genuinely represent rational business decisions. We will decide on further actions in collaboration with the relevant Ministry and the Government of Montenegro to uphold the integrity and legality of the entire procedure,” they concluded in Morsko dobro.
