Remarkable Comeback by Water Polo Player in World Cup Semi-Finals

The U16 water polo national team of Montenegro has secured a memorable victory that will resonate for years to come.

Under the guidance of Nenad Vukanić, the team overcame a daunting five-goal deficit in the quarter-finals of the World Cup in Malta, ultimately defeating Greece 12:11 after an intense penalty shootout.

Goalkeeper Marko Pejović emerged as the standout performer, saving two crucial shots during the penalty shootout. Danilo Roganović also shined, being the top scorer of the match with five goals, solidifying his status as the best player of the game.

Alongside Roganović, Andrej Durutović contributed two goals, while Stefan Vraneš, Luka Dragović, Pavle Dabić, and Luka Todorović each added one goal in regular play. Durutović, Roganović, Vraneš, and Todorović all demonstrated accuracy during the five-pointer attempts as well.

Montenegro’s next challenge will be against Italy in the fight for a spot in the finals, scheduled for Sunday at 19:30. Italy emerged victorious against Croatia in the quarter-finals, winning 9:6.

The other semi-final will see Hungary taking on Spain, both of whom triumphed over Serbia and the United States, respectively.

Throughout the group stage, Montenegro displayed dominance with three straightforward victories: against South Africa (18:6), Egypt (12:4), and Slovenia (22:6), followed by a convincing 5:1 win over Australia in the round of 8.
