Salah Nets Two as Liverpool Overcomes Southampton with a Comeback Victory
Liverpool triumphed over Southampton with a 3:1 victory at home today during the 28th round of the English Premier League.
Southampton initially took the lead with a goal from William Smallbone at the end of first-half injury time.
However, the home side leveled the score in the 52nd minute thanks to a goal from Darwin Nunez. Just a minute later, Mohamed Salah converted a penalty to give Liverpool a quick turnaround.
Salah sealed the win in the 88th minute with another penalty goal, marking his second of the match.
With this result, Liverpool is currently at the top of the table with 70 points, holding a 16-point lead over second-placed Arsenal, who still have two games in hand. Southampton remains at the bottom of the table in 20th place with just nine points.
In the upcoming round, Liverpool is set to face Everton at home, while Southampton will host Wolverhampton.
In another match, Brighton emerged victorious against Fulham with a scoreline of 2:1 at home.
Fulham opened the scoring with a goal from Raul Jimenez in the 35th minute. Brighton responded with an equalizer from Jan Paul Van Hecke in the 41st minute.
The winning goal for Brighton came from Joao Pedro, who scored from the penalty spot in the eighth minute of stoppage time.
With this win, Brighton is now sixth with 46 points, while Fulham sits in ninth place with 42 points.
Additionally, Crystal Palace secured a 1-0 home victory against Ipswich in London, thanks to a goal from Ismail Sarr in the 83rd minute.
Crystal Palace currently occupies the 11th spot with 39 points, while Ipswich stands in 18th place with 17 points.
