A notable surge in foreign direct investment from the United Kingdom over the past year, along with productive foreign trade, forms a solid foundation for enhancing collaboration in various sectors, according to Minister of Economic Development, Nik Đeljošaj.

During a meeting with British Ambassador Dawn McCann and Claire Sears, Director of the British Council for the Western Balkans, he indicated that there are multiple opportunities for expanding cooperation in areas such as tourism, innovation, and education.

The participants underscored the robust partnership between Montenegro and Great Britain, highlighting the significant British support for Montenegro during its NATO accession and throughout key reforms, democratic advancements, and pro-Western initiatives.

The importance of the creative economy was also discussed, with Đeljošaj expressing support for the embassy’s proposals in this field.

He particularly acknowledged the dedication, expertise, and genuine support from the British Embassy in developing the Proposal for Amendments to the Law on Free Zones.

“By incorporating British experts into the Working Group tasked with drafting the Proposal for Amendments to the Law on Free Zones, we aim to collaboratively enhance the legislative framework for free zones, aligning it with the latest European and Western standards,” Đeljošaj stated.

Meken commended the Ministry of Economic Development’s diligent efforts in establishing the Working Group for the development of the Proposal for Amendments to the Law on Free Zones and offered complete support for continuing initiatives to ensure the Working Group’s success and productivity.
