The victims of the fire in Kočani, North Macedonia, ranged in age from 14 to 24 years, as stated by Kristina Serafimova, the director of the Kočani hospital.

According to reports from Sloboden Pečat, Serafimova indicated that the individuals who lost their lives in the disco fire hailed from Skopje, Štip, Probištip, and Kočani.

“We admitted 70 individuals, but unfortunately, some did not survive. The patients suffered from burns and carbon monoxide poisoning. They were subsequently moved to the Clinical Hospital in Štip, and some were then transferred to Skopje. Currently, we are treating 20 patients with less severe symptoms,” she explained.

She further noted that “there are many fatalities,” and they cannot disclose the exact number until identification is finalized.

“It was challenging to identify some victims as they did not possess ID cards. The deceased were aged between 14 and 24,” Serafimova remarked.

Interior Minister Panče Toškovski reported that 51 individuals have perished in the fire at the “Puls” discotheque in Kočani.

Currently, 152 patients are hospitalized in various facilities across North Macedonia, with 18 of those in critical condition, as per the Ministry of Health’s report.

Health Minister Arben Taravari confirmed that patients are being treated at the Surgery Clinic, the Plastic Surgery Clinic, and the Children’s Surgery Clinic.

“Every patient has been given a place in our hospitals, and we have mobilized all our resources to save as many lives as we can. I am not in a position to speculate on the number of critical cases,” Taravari stated, according to Sloboden Pečat.

He mentioned that the blood supply is currently sufficient, but if additional resources are needed, he will inform the public without delay.

“We have also received offers of assistance from neighboring countries. At this time, we are fully prepared, and there’s no necessity for foreign aid,” he concluded.
