A young woman who escaped a fire at a nightclub in Kočani, North Macedonia, reported that her sister was inside the establishment with her, but their whereabouts remain unknown.

Marija Taseva (20) recounted that chaos erupted when the fire started, causing her to fall as she made her way outside.

“Everyone rushed out. It was a desperate fight for survival. My sister is unaccounted for. We haven’t located her at any hospital. We’re now awaiting results, hoping to find her; if we don’t, we might head to Skopje,” she shared with the MIA agency.

She also mentioned that as she was exiting the disco, she fell and was trampled by others trying to escape.

“I just lay there on the ground, face down,” Taseva noted.

Her father expressed concern as they have yet to receive any news about their other daughter, aged 25.

The tragic incident resulted in the deaths of 51 individuals.
