The Kolašin Municipality has announced a public call to distribute 10,000 euros aimed at assisting couples requiring medically assisted reproduction (MAV).

According to the announcement, these funds are intended to cover expenses associated with infertility treatment through MPO procedures.

The Regulation on the criteria, method, and procedure for granting funds for MPO, which was established last year, outlines the process for fund allocation. As detailed in the public call, an amount of 4,000 euros will be granted to couples in a married or common-law relationship, or to an individual woman not in such a relationship, who has utilized their entitlement to infertility treatment under MPO procedures covered by mandatory health insurance.

An additional 1,000 euros will be provided to couples who are initiating or have commenced infertility treatment utilizing the MPO method.

Based on the regulations, the factors influencing the distribution of these funds include the age of the woman, the total number of joint children, the number of unsuccessful MPO attempts, and the monthly income of married or common-law partners. The commission will also consider the unique life circumstances of the applicant.

“The financial resources granted can solely be used for infertility treatment through homologous and heterologous in vitro fertilization (IVF and ICSI) procedures, as well as for expenses incurred during this process,” the Regulation specifies.

For 2024, the municipality allocated 8,000 euros to aid couples needing MPO assistance. The Kolašin opposition previously argued that the complete co-funding for MPO expenses should be set at 20,000 euros. It was suggested that beneficiaries unable to receive MPO funding from the Health Insurance Fund could receive up to 80% of domestic procedure costs and up to 60% of foreign procedure costs from the local budget. Additionally, those undergoing MPO through the Health Insurance Fund could receive co-funding of 500 euros against submitted invoices.
