A gathering of roughly a hundred individuals, primarily from the Socialist Movement led by Aleksandr Vulin, convened today outside the N1 television editorial office in Belgrade, as reported by N1.

The attendees sought access to the N1 studio to present their demands. Shortly after their arrival, the police intervened to separate the protesters rallying against N1 from a group of Airport City employees who came to express their support for N1 staff.

The protesters dispersed around 13:30 p.m.

They were met with cheers of “Bravo” from the Airport City employees present.

N1 personnel acknowledged the support from the citizens of Airport City who had previously arrived to back N1.

During the protest, attendees bore banners reading “Where is your boss?” and chanted “We will not give up on Serbia.”

From the street and their windows, employees from Airport City responded with shouts of “woo” and “pump,” while also chanting “learn, learn” and “dads, dads.”

N1 program director Igor Božić stated that he disregarded the protesters’ request to enter the N1 studio, as government officials have been repeatedly invited without acceptance.

Božić also expressed pleasant surprise at the reaction from Airport City employees.

“This is a miscalculation by Aleksandar Vučić, or whoever orchestrated this action. I appreciate the response from employees of companies in Airport City. Their support highlights the atmosphere in society that N1 reports on. Such perspectives are not featured on state-controlled media,” Božić commented.

Regarding the cohort of about 100 people blocking the entrance to the N1 building, Božić mentioned his unfamiliarity with them, implying they arrived in an organized manner.

Christmas: Gathering organized by Vulin

According to N1, notable attendees included provincial secretary for social protection Predrag Vuletić and other members, Miroslav Rodić and Ivan Siler, from the Socialist Movement led by Aleksandar Vulin.

“The gathering was not spontaneous. We can assert that Aleksandar Vulin organized this protest,” Božić remarked, according to N1.

Božić mentioned that N1 was unaware of the planned gathering, though police presence indicated prior knowledge of the event, as they were on-site before the protesters arrived.

“They were informed about the gathering; those individuals were present behind them,” Božić noted.

Božić remarked that N1 journalists did not receive any communication from the protesters regarding their purpose.

“I expect someone will eventually explain why they are here,” he stated.

He assessed the situation as one of unnecessary tension, recalling that after the blockade of Radio Television of Serbia (RTS), the “regime’s elite” frequently questioned when N1 would face a similar situation.

“This serves as a clear regime response. It’s evidently a distraction from current events surrounding student demonstrations, with the goal of conveying that independent media pose problems, much like pro-regime media are perceived to be,” Božić opined.

Siler stated their request to enter N1

Ivan Siler, assistant to the mayor of Novi Sad, claimed that their request was for N1 to allow them into the studio to express their thoughts.

However, he declined to provide his name upon request.

The police have not responded to N1’s inquiries regarding whom they are protecting in front of the station.

They claim to lack authorization for statements.

An N1 reporter attempted to ascertain the identities of those gathered in front of the television station.

Several individuals refused to comment, and one man demanded entry into the studio.

“If you want us to give you a statement, welcome us into the studio so we can explain who we are,” he stated.

The crowd echoed the chant “Serbia.”

“We have decided to refrain from making any statements,” responders announced.
