The Socialist People’s Party (SNP) has raised alarms regarding the potential repercussions following the arrest of Milorad Dodik, the president of Republika Srpska.
In their statement, they warned that this action “could influence stability and peace in the region.”
On March 12, the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) instructed the judicial police to take into custody President Dodik, Prime Minister Radovan Višković, and the Speaker of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, Nenad Stevandić. They are charged with the criminal offense of “attack on the constitutional order.”
“We assert that political matters should be resolved through dialogue, grounded in democratic principles, rather than through actions that exacerbate divisions and tensions. The proposed arrest and detention of an elected representative of the people will not aid in addressing unresolved political issues; instead, it increases uncertainty and insecurity. Therefore, we urge all political entities to demonstrate restraint, responsibility, and adherence to international legal standards, to mitigate further tensions and to safeguard the security and dignity of all communities in the region,” the SNP stated.
