The finalists from last season, a team that previously secured the championship title three times consecutively, have consistently appeared in the final four recently…
The players of Buducnost Bemax faced a challenging draw for the new season of the Champions League, landing them in a group with Djerba, Vipers, Esbjerg, Odense, Ludwigsburg (formerly known as Bittigheim), Brest, and Rapid from Bucharest.
“The draw is complete, and it’s evident that it couldn’t have been tougher. Sometimes you get favorable matchups, and other times you understand that every game will be a derby right from the start,” commented Bojana Popović, coach of Buducnost, following the draw in Austria.
In the second group are FTC, Metz, ĆSM Bucharest, Krim, Storhamar, Nikobing Falster, Podravka, and Gloria.
“However, that group has several teams that are relatively weaker compared to our opponents, as there are more inexperienced teams there, unlike our situation,” added Bojana.
The legendary handball player further discussed Buducnost’s rivals…
“It goes without saying that Djerba harbors the greatest ambitions each season, while Bittigheim, now called Ludwigsburg, reached the finals last year. Esbjerg has also proven its capability by finishing in third place. Both Rapid and Brest aim to progress as far as possible, making it clear that there’s no match where we can assume we have already secured the points,” Bojana stated unequivocally.
She concluded with, “We are looking at significant challenges ahead, facing 14 very demanding matches against top-tier teams.”
The new season of the Champions League kicks off on September 7 and 8.
