Last weekend saw some outstanding performances from Montenegrin volleyball players. Danijela Džaković stood out once again in Azerbaijan, while our middle blockers Teodora Rakočević and Saška Đurović delivered impressive performances. Meanwhile, Simona Petranović and Mladost were unable to retain the Croatian Cup title. As competitions across Europe head into the finals, the stakes are high.
Zagreb’s Mladost couldn’t keep their Cup title, falling to Ribola Kaštela 3:1 in the final match held in Sisak, where Simona Petranović contributed four points. The Croatian champions will finish the first phase of the Super League with a match against Ribola Kaštela; having secured a direct spot in the play-off semi-finals, they eagerly await their playoff opponent.
Danijela Džaković emerged as a pivotal player in her team’s significant triumph over Mili Avijasi, leading Azerbaijan’s side to a 3:2 victory against Azerail with an impressive 20 points.
Saška Đurović showcased her skills in another thrilling five-set match, helping her team Sporting advance to the semi-finals of the Portuguese championship playoffs. The “Lions” triumphed over Fiaes in a challenging away leg, winning 3:2, with Đurović achieving 11 points. Sporting’s next opponent will be determined in a match between Braga and Klub Kairoša scheduled for tomorrow. The other semi-final pairing in the Portuguese 1st Division features Benfica and Porto.
As the regular season of League A wrapped up in France, our Katarina Budrak’s Bordeaux is set to face defending champions Levallois in the playoffs. Bordeaux finished the last league round with a 3:0 defeat against the table leaders, landing in eighth place to secure the final playoff slot. In the 26th round, Budrak scored eight points. The quarter-final series will begin on April 5, played in a best-of-five format.
Montenegrin middle blocker Teodora Rakočević delivered an outstanding performance, leading Banja Luka to the semifinals of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Premier League playoffs with a remarkable 15 points. Her team dominated Igman 3:0 and will face Borac next.
The quarterfinals of the Slovenian championship have commenced, with Nevena Vukčević’s team GEN-I Volley suffering a 3:1 defeat against Luka Koper away. They will strive to extend their season in the second leg in Nova Gorica. In the opening playoff match, Vukčević scored nine points.
Mina Dragović and the Lugoša volleyball team are competing for fifth place in the Romanian championship, having successfully surpassed Targoviste in the first playoff round without dropping a single set. In the away return match, Mina Dragović tallied eight points. Lugoša will face Constanta, who eliminated Rapid from Bucharest.
The playoff pairings for the Serbian Super League have been announced, featuring three Montenegrin teams. Jedinstvo from Stara Pazova saw its seven-match winning streak come to an end in the last round of the regular season, losing to Železničar 3:0 at their venue. In this matchup, young middle blocker Staša Mitrović managed to score a point in two sets. Jedinstvo, finishing in sixth place, will compete against Uba in the playoff quarterfinals.
Srem secured fifth place in the standings, closing the league phase with a decisive 3:0 win over Omladinac, relegating them to a lower tier. In the losing team, young Montenegrin Darja Popović scored three points, while Lara Jovović did not play any minutes for Srem, who will face Crvena zvezda in the playoffs’ quarterfinals.
