TIKA Plays a Key Role in Enhancing Montenegro-Türkiye Relations

Today in Podgorica, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ervin Ibrahimović held a meeting with Serkan Kayalar, the President of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), who is currently visiting Montenegro.

The discussions highlighted TIKA’s vital role in enhancing the ties between Montenegro and Türkiye, particularly its significant contributions to the advancement of bilateral cooperation.

Since the inauguration of its office in Podgorica in 2007, TIKA has executed nearly 500 development projects, amounting to over 20 million euros in total value.

Minister Ibrahimović remarked that “TIKA has been instrumental in the success narrative of Montenegro-Türkiye relations,” pointing out the agency’s widespread operations across all regions of Montenegro through its diverse projects. He emphasized that this vibrant cooperation is further reinforced by an active high-level political dialogue, confirming both nations’ dedication to nurturing and enhancing friendly relations.

He also highlighted the significance of collaboration in the fields of education and culture, along with the opportunities for new initiatives in transport infrastructure. “The best proof of our countries’ collaboration is action—the thriving operations of Turkish enterprises in Montenegro and the increasing interest in new investments. This all plays a role in fortifying economic and overall interstate connections,” Ibrahimović stated.

President Kayalar noted that, since his previous visit to Montenegro four years ago, the cooperation between Türkiye and Montenegro has been on a continuous upward trajectory. He pointed out that the growing number and importance of successfully executed projects across various municipalities in Montenegro reflect both countries’ commitment to working together and deepening bilateral relations.

The meeting reinforced the commitment to continue strengthening bilateral cooperation and underscored Türkiye’s commitment to fostering stability and prosperity in the Western Balkans.
