Detention Extended by Three Months for Suspects in 509-Kilogram Cocaine Smuggling Case on the “Budva” Ship

Today, the Supreme Court of Montenegro announced that the panel has decided to extend the detention of Mladen Radulović, Vuk Mićić Miranović, and Ognjen Ilić for an additional three months, as they face allegations of smuggling 509 kilograms of cocaine aboard the ship “Budva”.
The drugs were confiscated in Hamburg, Germany, on May 2, 2020, after being monitored for several days prior to the seizure.
According to the statement, “The Council of the Supreme Court of Montenegro, reviewing the proposal from the Special State Prosecutor’s Office dated March 04, 2025, has decided to extend the defendants’ detention for another three months, until June 09, 2025.”
It has been indicated that all defendants are suspected of forming a criminal organization, while Radulović and Ilić are also charged with the unauthorized production, possession, and distribution of narcotic drugs.
Furthermore, the statement mentions that Mićić Miranović’s detention has been extended under similar drug-related charges.
“To remind, the detention of defendants MR, OI, and VMM was initially ordered by the investigating judge of the Higher Court in Podgorica on December 11, 2024, and was extended by a decision from that court’s council on January 03, 2025. Thus, pursuant to the Supreme Court of Montenegro’s decision, their detention could now last until June 09, 2025,” the Supreme Court added.
