The Emirates and Alabbar Receive a Warm Welcome in Montenegro

Prime Minister Milojko Spajić convened a meeting with the leaders of the northern municipalities to discuss potential development initiatives, investment opportunities, and the interest in attracting potential investors.

During this meeting, Prime Minister Spajić informed the participants about his engagements at the Economic Forum in Davos and the World Governments Summit in Dubai, which focused on showcasing Montenegro’s investment potential and the increasing interest from investors.

Moreover, the Prime Minister announced that the Government has approved the Economic Cooperation Agreement with the United Arab Emirates, which is set to be signed soon. He reminded everyone that the previous agreement had lapsed in 2022 and was not renewed by earlier administrations.

This agreement will provide a framework for future collaboration across various sectors, including tourism, infrastructure, energy, agriculture, and finance. Additionally, specific agreements will be established, with one of the initial focuses being large-scale tourism development projects in both the southern and northern regions of the country, according to the Prime Minister.

He noted that significant development projects and new investments positively impact local entrepreneurs by generating opportunities for business growth.

It is crucial to propose ideas or initiatives that can bring about meaningful advancements in your municipalities. We all share the responsibility to advocate for the best interests of both the municipalities and the state, Spajić remarked.

The leaders of the northern municipalities voiced that the meeting was an excellent opportunity to express that the north has much to contribute and is keen to attract new investments.

They unanimously supported the engagement of leading global investors, such as Mohamed Alabbar, in Montenegro.

As they emphasized, only new investments and substantial development projects can help address the depopulation challenges facing the northern region.

The north is rich in potential across mountain tourism, energy, infrastructure, and agriculture, which must be leveraged for the benefit of future generations, the local leaders stated.

The meeting concluded with the agreement that a significant development project in any northern municipality would positively affect the entire region.

Attendees of the meeting included the presidents of the municipalities of Plužine, Gusinje, Kolašin, Berane, Andrijevica, Rožaje, Petnjica, Plav, Mojkovac, Bijelo Polje, and Šavnik.
