The “Children’s House” initiative needs to be revitalized, as highlighted during today’s meeting between the Capital City representatives and the Parents’ Association. The significance of this project for aiding families and children cannot be overstated.

The meeting marks the beginning of collaboration between this association and the newly appointed city administration. One of their primary objectives is to enhance the living conditions for families and children in Podgorica, as discussed by Mayor Saša Mujović and President of the Capital City Assembly, Jelena Borovinić Bojović, alongside Kristina Mihailović and Lepa Žugić from the Parents’ Association.

During the meeting, members of the Parents’ Association briefed the new city leadership on the various services and programs they offer to families, including the previously initiated but never realized “Children’s House” project.

A proposal for establishing a new family support service in Podgorica, which would encompass counseling and therapeutic services, was also put forth. The city plans to have this service provided by a team of professionals, focused on children and young individuals up to 18 years of age.

Mujović stated that ensuring the safety of children in schools would be a priority for the Capital City, alongside enhancing all related services and initiatives that contribute to a nurturing environment for children. He emphasized that the Capital City is committed to providing unwavering support to achieve tangible results in this area, as noted in a statement from the Capital City.

Implementing the “Children’s House” initiative and the new family support services demands a collaborative approach involving the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation, and the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Dialogue. The Capital City underscored that the Parents’ Association will provide further information to the city administration and pertinent ministries about the project shortly, to outline subsequent steps for its execution.

According to the city administration, their main objective is to deliver concrete and sustainable outcomes that will enhance the quality of life for families and children in Podgorica, the statement concluded.
