In remembrance of the tragic events in Cetinje, a commemorative session took place at the Governorate, attended by President of Cetinje Nikola Đurašković, Supreme State Prosecutor Milorad Marković, Foreign Minister Ervin Ibrahimović, Health Minister Vojislav Šimić, and other officials, including former President of Montenegro Milo Đukanović.

Nikola Đurašković expressed that they convened to confront the collective sorrow impacting the community.

– Another unprecedented tragedy has struck Cetinje and Montenegro. The loss of 12 lives has left us in profound shock and disbelief. The particular anguish of losing two innocents has created a void in our hearts. Our only recourse is to extend the sincerest condolences to the families and to assist them in their grief – stated Mayor Nikola Đurašković, noting that this loss affects not only the families but society as a whole.

He emphasized, as reported by RT CG, that we must all question why such an event happened again and why we permitted it to occur…

– The state must respond with a systematic approach. We owe it to the victims and their families. We must also pursue clarity in our actions, “he stated.

The Vice President of the Cetinje Assembly, Mirko Stanić, conveyed that Cetinje is thankful to all those standing with their fellow citizens during these challenging times.

– Our thoughts and hopes are directed towards the recovery of our injured. It feels as if we have never fully overcome this tragedy, “Stanić mentioned.

Prime Minister Milojko Spajić announced after a national security meeting a new firearms law that would enforce strict checks on all gun owners.

One patient in critical condition

The Montenegrin clinical center reported that one of the four individuals injured in the Cetinje shooting remains in critical condition.

Citizens across multiple Montenegrin cities have honored the victims of the mass tragedy by lighting candles.
