Montenegrin fighters win nine medals in Larnaca

Montenegrin Athletes Clinch Nine Medals in Larnaca

The Montenegrin Jiu-Jitsu national team concluded its participation at the European Championships for fighters aged under 16 and 18 in Larnaca, bringing home a total of nine medals: one gold, four silver, and four bronze.

Elena Jovanović emerged as the European Champion, dominating the under 16 competition in the ne waza discipline for the over 63 kilogram category.

In the under-16 category, silver medals were awarded to Filip Milošević (under 69 kg), Danilo Božović (under 40 kg), Dino Haznadar (under 48 kg), and Martin Lučev (under 62 kg) in the under-18 category.

The bronze medals were claimed by Andrija Lekić (under 16) in the ne waza discipline for the over 77 kg category, while in the under-18 category, Vladana Popović (over 70 kg), Balša Đurišić (under 77 kg), and Andrija Golić (over 85 kg) also took home bronze.

Miloš Ašanin, the President of the Jiu-Jitsu Federation, expressed that these achievements are a testament to the hard work put in and that the future of Montenegrin Jiu-Jitsu looks promising.

“I would like to extend special congratulations to the coaching staff of the national team and our coaches, who invested significant effort in training and preparations, contributing greatly to the successful outcomes for our competitors in Larnaca,” said Ašanin.

The Larnaca Championship saw participation from over 2,000 competitors hailing from nearly every European nation, including 22 representatives from Montenegro.
