How did someone with bizarre attitudes like Šušić get the opportunity to be in power in Podgorica

How did Šušić, who held unconventional views, come to hold power in Podgorica?

Mitar Šušić, a member of the New Serbian Democracy (NSD), not only failed to support the preservation of Montenegro’s most celebrated sports team but also attempted to persuade his colleagues and the public that one of Podgorica’s symbols – ŽRK Budućnost – should be dissolved.

This statement was made by Miloš Đuričković, the international secretary of Montenegro’s Social Democrats (SD).

His reaction followed Šušić’s comments during a parliamentary discussion regarding the decision for the Capital City to assume the founding rights of the Women’s Handball Club Budućnost.

In his remarks, Šušić referred to Budućnost as a failing professional club and claimed that anyone who follows and idolizes professional athletes would not develop into a healthy individual.

“For years, we’ve been emphasizing that the primary goal of these individuals is to dismantle everything positive in Montenegro. While this may sound like a harsh indictment, Šušić and others continually affirm our concerns,” Đuričković remarked.

He noted that Šušić’s perspective comes as no surprise to them.

“This is not unexpected for the vast majority of the citizenry. However, everyone should question how someone with such peculiar beliefs and views has come to hold a position of power in Podgorica,” Đuričković asserted.

He further stressed that this is not an isolated incident.

“Our society comprises individuals with similar personality traits, like Vladislav Dajković, Slavica Ilinčić, library director Radosav Ljumović, Marko Čađenović, JU Kakaricka Gora, Dragan Koprivica, and the Parking Service, among many others,” Đuričković explained.

According to him, this group of personnel has been given the authority to make decisions on behalf of all citizens.

“This trust was not granted based on their merit but rather due to the faith citizens placed in those political entities that, purely for their personal agendas, irresponsibly handed over nearly all crucial positions in the capital to them,” Đuričković concluded.
