The handball players of Budućnost have come together for their first training session as they prepare for the new season at the “Morača” Sports Center, as announced by the club.

The coaching staff, headed by Bojana Popović, had 15 players present at the inaugural training, with reinforcements expected to join soon—goalkeeper Sakura Hauge and pivot Klara Monti Danielson will be joining the team by the end of the week.

“Following the capital’s acquisition of founding rights over ŽRK Budućnost last week, the squad is set to begin their preparations for the new season, albeit ten days later than planned. The season kicks off on September 8 with an away match against Rapid in Bucharest,” stated Budućnost.

The players will finalize their preparations for the upcoming season in Podgorica.

Out of the eight intended reinforcements for the season, along with Hauge and Danijelson, Montenegrin national team members Jelena Despotović and Nina Bulatović are also part of the squad.

Following the departure of the main sponsor, “Bemax”, players had the option to change their positions, resulting in Đurđina Jauković, Dženi Karlson, Nikolina Vukčević, Aisatu Kujata, and Valerija Kirdjaševa leaving the club.

Contracts have been extended for Montenegrin national team players Armel Atingre, Ivona Pavićević, Ivana Godeč, Andrijana Popović, Tanja Ivanović, Anastasija Marsenić, and Nađa Kadović, as well as defender Mari Plamenova Tomova.

Jelena Vukčević and Dunja Radević, who joined from the Rudara branch, will remain with Budućnost, while Nikolina Marković, Maša Kuzmanović, and coxswain Marija Marsenić are set to join the first team for the upcoming season.

The coaching staff will remain consistent, with Maja Savić serving as the first assistant to Bojana Popović, Novak Ristović as the goalkeeper coach, and Milivoje Đurđić overseeing fitness training.
