US Secretary of State Marco Rubio emphasized today that Washington is committed to preventing the disintegration of Bosnia and Herzegovina, particularly amid escalating tensions following the court ruling against Bosnian Serb political figure Milorad Dodik.

“We aim to do everything we can to avert the onset of another conflict in Europe,” Rubio stated to reporters in Saudi Arabia, where he is leading a US delegation for discussions with Ukrainian officials aimed at resolving the war in that country.

In response to inquiries about potential US measures against Bosnian Serb leaders, he remarked, “We are exploring all options.”

“We do not wish to witness the fragmentation of this nation. Regardless of internal disagreements, they should not result in the country’s disintegration or ignite new conflicts,” Rubio asserted.

Recently, Secretary of State Rubio expressed that Dodik “undermines the security and stability of Bosnia and Herzegovina.”

Dodik’s political maneuvers, which have led to laws being enacted that prohibit the functioning of state judicial bodies and the Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) in Republika Srpska, have faced condemnation from Great Britain and major EU powers, including Germany, France, and Italy. This legislation came about after the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina found Dodik guilty in an initial ruling for not adhering to the decisions made by the High Representative.

Despite the tensions in transatlantic relations, Washington has shown support for the European Union and NATO amid this crisis, which both decry the actions taken by the Serbian entity in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as reported by Agence France-Presse.
