The establishment of the State Data Center and the Disaster Recovery Center lays the groundwork for a modern digital infrastructure, facilitating a more efficient, secure, and cost-effective operation of public administration, according to Minister of Public Administration Maraš Dukaj.

The Ministry of Public Administration (MPA) has announced that a presentation of the feasibility study for the State Data Center and the State Disaster Recovery Center, developed under the project “Support to the Digital Transformation of Montenegro,” took place today.

Dukaj emphasized that digitalization is a critical strategic priority for the Government, aimed at constructing an efficient, transparent, and accessible public administration capable of meeting the demands of the digital era.

“I am proud to unveil today the Feasibility Study for the State Data Center and the State Disaster Recovery Center, which was prepared as part of the project ‘Support to the Digital Transformation of Montenegro,'” remarked Dukaj.

This initiative was carried out by the MPA in collaboration with the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS).

Dukaj noted that executing this project fulfills the objectives set forth in the strategies for digital transformation, public administration reform, and cybersecurity, which collectively reflect the vision of a digitally advanced society.

“The creation of the State Data Center and Disaster Recovery Center serves as the bedrock of a modern digital infrastructure, enabling a more efficient, secure, and economically viable operation of public administration,” stated Dukaj.

He further mentioned that this project underscores Montenegro’s commitment to digital transformation and its determination to be a responsible member of the international community, particularly in the realm of cybersecurity within NATO.

“I extend special gratitude to UNOPS for their ongoing support and to KPMG for the expert and high-quality preparation of the feasibility study, which has provided clear direction for the implementation of this strategic initiative,” Dukaj expressed.

UNOPS Program Manager Marko Vujačić highlighted his satisfaction in being involved in the development of Montenegro’s State Data Center, which is pivotal to advancing the country’s digital transformation efforts in partnership with the MPA.

He added that sustainability is a fundamental concern for UNOPS, a UN agency focused on project execution.

“In this context, considerations of sustainability, ranging from renewable energy utilization to the optimal investment model and institutional resilience, must be integrated both during the drafting of the Feasibility Study and in the ongoing project development to ensure secure and sustainable institutional data storage,” Vujačić stated.
