Citizens return 20 more weapons

Citizens Surrender an Additional 20 Weapons

Between January 2 and March 6, a total of 3,313 firearms, 110,891 rounds of ammunition, 357 grenades, and several hundred components of weapons and explosive devices were surrendered voluntarily, according to an announcement from the Police Directorate.

On March 5 alone, citizens across Montenegro returned 20 firearms, 751 rounds of ammunition, and one grenade.

The highest quantity of arms and ammunition was reported to have been surrendered to the Regional Security Center “Centar” in Podgorica.

“In the area governed by the Regional Security Center ‘Centar’ in Podgorica, citizens voluntarily handed over 11 firearms to the police, which included four pistols and seven rifles, along with 473 rounds of various ammunition,” the agency stated.

Two firearms were turned in by police officers from the Regional Security Center “South” in Bar and Herceg Novi, which included one pistol and one rifle, along with 66 rounds of ammunition. Furthermore, three firearms were surrendered to the Regional Security Center in the Nikšić and Pljevlja areas, consisting of three pistols and 38 rounds of ammunition.

Citizens in Plav also delivered a number of firearms yesterday.

“In the northern region of the country, within the jurisdiction of the Regional Security Center ‘North’, four firearms were voluntarily surrendered in Plav—two pistols, two rifles, 174 rounds of ammunition, and one grenade,” the Police Directorate reported.

They reiterated that citizens can return weapons by calling 122, ensuring there will be no legal, criminal, or misdemeanor consequences, regardless of whether the weapons are held legally or illegally.

Additionally, citizens can report threatening behavior and violence related to weapon possession through the free SOS hotline at 19969 or via email at sos@policija.me.
