PES and the Coalition for the Future of Montenegro in Dispute Over Mikijelje and Morsko Dobro

Dritan Abazović, the president of the Civic Movement URA, has remarked that the current Montenegrin government consists of “politically hungry individuals who will only bicker and negotiate over positions,” with their primary objective being to “divide Montenegro.”

In response to the recent conflicts within the government, GP URA relayed Abazović’s comments during the podcast “Friday with Dritan.” He criticized the Europe Now Movement (PES) and the Coalition for the Future of Montenegro for their “foolish arguments regarding Mladen Mikijelj and Morski dobro,” emphasizing that they are fundamentally battling for control over resources and power.

Abazović questioned, “Who genuinely believes that Prime Minister Milojko Spajić can stand up to Andrija Mandić? His associates went to support (Milorad) Dodik in Banja Luka without him even commenting. He unilaterally appointed the director of the National Security Agency, and now we see conflicts arising over government positions devoid of any principles. These disputes are about seats, not values,” he stated.

The statement continued with Abazović commenting on the supposed intention of minority parties to exit the government, labeling it as yet another fabricated conflict.

He remarked, “Have you heard them express a genuine desire to leave the government? No, because this conversation revolves not around essential matters but control of an agency that is set to become a ministry. The true nature of this government is becoming clearer daily,” Abazović added.

On the topic of the agreement in the Parliament of Montenegro to establish an Inquiry Committee focused on attacks against journalists, the URA leader criticized this move as yet another failure of common sense.

He highlighted, “Consider what the DF is doing in Parliament – they allow the DPS to lead the committee investigating the murder of Duško Jovanović. This murder occurred while the DPS had unopposed power, and they concealed the evidence for 16 years. Now, Andrija Mandić, Aleksa Bečić, and Milojko Spajić are permitting the DPS to head the committee meant to investigate this case. This is the epitome of hypocrisy. These individuals seek no justice; they intend to continue the policies of looting and state destruction, just as the DPS did,” Abazović emphasized.

Finally, the President of GP URA addressed the government’s decision to incur an additional debt of 1.14 billion euros for Montenegro.

He stated, “This means every citizen, including infants older than one day, will owe an additional 1,872 euros. They are repeating the actions of the DPS before August 30th – burdening the country without a clear strategy, reforms, or accountability to the citizens,” concluded Abazović.
