Our women’s handball team faced another draw during the Under-18 World Championship in China. This morning, fortune was not on the side of our female cadets as they ended the main round match against Sweden in a dramatic 19:19 draw, with Sweden equalizing just before the final whistle.
Coached by Tatjana Jeraminok, the team recorded their second tie after previously drawing against Croatia during the group stage.
Currently, our team has accumulated two points, with a crucial quarter-final match against Serbia scheduled for Tuesday. Both teams have the same points tally after the first round of the main round.
Croatia leads with three points, while Sweden has one point.
In the first half, Sweden outperformed, taking a lead of 9:5 in the 24th minute. However, our girls managed to close the gap with three consecutive goals, ending the half at 9:8.
Montenegro took the lead at the start of the second half and maintained it until the last attack, with Ceklić scoring just 15 seconds before the end. Unfortunately, Sweden equalized with a buzzer-beater.
Nina Ramusović was our standout player, netting five goals, while Ksenija Kuzman and Ksenija Gašević each contributed three goals. Lucija Jovanović made eight critical saves.
