Buducnost and Ludwigsburg faced off for the second time this season, with their latest encounter in southern Germany mirroring their previous match played three months ago in “Morača”.

The Montenegrin champions did well in the first half and could have gone into halftime with a smaller deficit, but they faltered in the second half, losing 26:18 in the 10th round of the Champions League.

The “Blue and White” team played this match without their captain, Ivona Pavićević, remaining on three points. They will aim to pull off another surprise and surpass Rapid Bucharest to secure a spot in the knockout stage.

Buducnost trailed by three points (30:13) after the first 10 minutes, and their performance and effort suggested they deserved a better outcome. However, several missed shots in the closing seconds allowed the German champions to lead by a significant margin at halftime.

The players under coach Bojana Popović were largely equal contenders with the European runners-up during this segment. Armel Atingre was impressive in goal, with notable plays from young talents Jelena Vukčević and Nikolina Marković, resulting in a back-and-forth game until the last four minutes before the break.

A brief interruption occurred due to surface issues at the “MHP Arena”, which seemed to momentarily disrupt the momentum of the blue and white team.

Johana Bundsen excelled in goal for the home team, having recently thwarted Montenegro during the EHF Euro. She managed to stop key players like Mari Plemenova Tomove and Dunja Radević, allowing Ludwigsburg to extend their lead from 11:10 to 13:10 via goals from Viola Leuchter and Jeni Karlsson.

While Buducnost’s offensive play showed improvement in the rest of the match, Jakob Westergaard’s squad proved too quick for their defense, rapidly increasing the score to 20:14 in favor of Ludwigsburg.

The home team’s advantage kept growing, concluding at a final score of 26:18. More concerning than the loss was the injury to Nina Ramusović, who had to leave the court supported by her teammates.
